Homecoming Parent Letter 2014

Dear Band Student’s and Parents, As you should know, Homecoming is one week from today, on Friday, October 17. All of the 7th and 8th grade students will be marching in the Homecoming parade with the High School Band. The kids will meet at the band room after school to line up for the parade. They are to wear black pants and tennis shoes appropriate for marching. The kids will also wear a band polo, which we will distribute after school and collect that night. The band polos are the same ones they will be wearing for concerts. If your child is participating in a fall sport, they can wear their jersey shirt and black pants to march. Students should report to the band room by 3:15 after school on friday to line up for the parade. The parade will start promptly at 4 from the Band Parking Lot then circle around down to Wright Street (down past the library two blocks) then back to the elementary and middle school and will end back in the band parking lot. After the parade, parents need to sign their students out with Mr. Shimmons. There is also a community tailgate at the football field afterwards. If you are participating in the tailgate we need you to help provide food and supplies. Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, French horn, Baritone, Tuba – $3; Saxophones – one 12 pack of pop or a case of water; Percussion brings dessert to share. Simply bring the food and drinks to the football field that evening. Students bringing money should bring it in by next Wednesday. That evening the 8th Grade Band and High School Band will perform for the Pre-Game at the Football Game along with any alumni that wishes to come back. Music is available for Alumni by emailing Mr. Shimmons – pshimmons @ gmail.com Then during the first half of the game and at half time the 8th Grade/High School will perform as well. Students need to be at the band trailer by 5:45 for the game and will all be released after half-time. Band boosters also want to invite you to attend our meetings to find out what’s going on with our bands and support our kids and programs. In recent years we have purchased new marching uniforms, capes, and band polos, as well as gently used instruments for the school. We are currently saving towards the purchase of a other new instruments to continue to replace well used instruments that are 25+ years old. We also help support band trips for marching competitions, festival, brass band, camp and other trips and scholarships. We meet next Tuesday at the football field at 6:30pm – 7:30. Please join us. Looking forward to seeing you all at Homecoming! Sincerely, Lisa Gross Band Booster President
