Please answer the following questions…..
The High School Band performed this weekend up in Tawas for the District 9 MSBOA Festival. The students have worked hard for the past several months and their hard work and dedication to excellence paid off. The High School received the highest rating possible for two of their three ratings in concert and received a second division rating for their third. Those 3 ratings along with a division two rating in sight-reading gave them a Division One rating overall. Now the students will be working their fingers to the bone and wearing their embouchures out to prepare for State Festival. There will be several clinics with guest conductors to help them in this preparation.
The Middle School 7th and 8th grade Band performed well at District Festival too. Their rating is still not known (well at least the students don’t know what they got!) After the students act as judges and evaluate themselves, then Mr. Shimmons will be telling them what the Judges thought their performance deserved.
Thanks to all the chaperones who rode the buss. Thanks to the parents who travelled to show their support and love to the students. Thanks to the administration of Farwell Schools for supporting the Fine Arts in our schools.
Here is the information about the 2012 Marching Band Camp for next years High School Students……
If your student is an 8th Grader and you did not make it to the parent meeting on the 6th of March you should look through these notes….
8th Grade Parents Meeting Notes 2012
It looks like we have enough chaperones for the High School Band. If you are a Middle School parent we could still use another chaperone or two.
The students should have brought home schedules. If not then check the band calendar and click on which ever band you would like to see a schedule for.
I am still looking for a parent that would be willing to haul the band trailer up to Tawas in the morning for the Middle School and then bring the trailer back after the High School is done. Call Mr. Shimmons if you would be willing.
